The local Parkway International Contracting has been awarded the AED290.5m contract

The joint venture (JV) of local developer Nakheel and Thai hotel group Centara Hotels & Resorts has awarded the AED290.5m ($79m) contract to build its resort on Deira Islands to the local Parkway International Contracting.

The AED500m Centara Deira Islands Beach Resort Dubai will have 601 rooms and will open in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The resort has been designed to attract families and will feature a waterpark, multiple restaurants, kids’ club, spa, fitness centre and business facilities.

The accommodation includes 114,450 square foot rooms designed specifically for families, rooms for people with special needs, standard rooms, deluxe rooms, suites and 1,200 square foot duplexes.

As a beachfront four star property, Nakheel says the project is a new hospitality concept for Dubai.

The Centara construction contract takes Nakheel’s infrastructure and construction investment at Deira Islands to nearly AED8.8bn.  The largest contract award was the AED4.2bn deal for Deira Mall secured by the local Unec in 2017.

Overall, Deira Islands will add 40 kilometres, including 21km of beach, to Dubai’s coastline. It is expected to have a population of 250,000 and to create 80,000 jobs.
