Nakheel forms joint venture for new Dubai resort

08 September 2015

Project will be built on Deira Islands

Dubai’s Nakheel has formed a joint venture with Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group to develop the Avani resort.

The 500-room beachfront resort will form part of Nakheel’s $12.5bn Deira Islands development.

Nakheel is negotiating other joint venture deals for the Deira Islands development.

It signed an agreement with Spain’s Riu Hotels & Resorts to operate a 750-room hotel earlier in 2015.

In June, Nakheel awarded Van Oord of the Netherlands a two-year AED387m ($105m) contract to deliver 23.5 kilometres of coastline and breakwaters at Deira Islands.

Nakheel’s flagship project is the $21bn Palm Jumeirah. It recently received bids for the contract to build the AED3bn ($817m) Gateway towers project at the base of the Palm.
