Nasdaq Dubai share value falls 55 per cent

Value of shares falls from $155m in October 2010

The value of shares traded on the Nasdaq Dubai in October 2011 reached $69m, down 55 per cent from October 2010.

Individual investors accounted for 6 per cent of the traded value of all shares traded on the bourse in the first 10 months of this year. Total equities traded value by individual and institutional investors was $610m.

“We look forward to building further liquidity as confidence in the region’s capital markets increases. Institutional liquidity, combined with an active retail base, puts Nasdaq Dubai in a strong position to attract further initial public offerings,” says Jeff Singer, chief executive officer of Nasdaq Dubai.
