Biography: Nasser Saidi is the executive director of the Hawkamah Institute for Corporate Governance at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Hawkamah was set up in 2005 to promote corporate sector reform and good governance in the region. Saidi is also the chief economist and head of external relations at the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, an independent financial services regulator for the DIFC.
Saidi is a member of the International Monetary Fund’s regional advisory group for Middle East and North Africa. He is also co-chair of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development’s Middle East and North Africa corporate governance working group. Saidi was Lebanon’s minister of economy and trade and minister of industry between 1998 and 2000.
He was the first vice-governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon from 1993 until 2003.
