National Water Company sets timeline for Mecca scheme

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has informed prequalified bidders for the Mecca and Taif water management contract that it will issue a request for proposals for the project on 21 December.

The client plans to hold a pre-bid conference on 27 January 2010 and has set a bid deadline of 1 March.

The bidders will make presentations to the client on 3 April and NWC will select a preferred bidder by 14 April.

NWC is also planning to issue a request for proposals for two more public private partnership schemes covering Medina; and Dammam and al-Khobar. It has told bidders that it will confirm the timetables for these transactions before or on 21 December, when it issues the tender for Mecca and Taif.

The company has prequalified 11 bidders for the contracts.
