A local team of National Construction & Trading Companywith Arab Technical Construction Companywas awarded in early June the contract to relocate the existing helicopter hangar facilities of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) at Seeb International Airport. The project is valued at RO 4.5 million ($11.5 million). A smaller package to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing services has gone to the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting. The client is ROP (MEED 31:5:02).
The work forms part of a bigger project, valued at RO 15 million ($39 million), to expand the royal hangar facilities of Sultan Qaboos based at Seeb. Contractors have been invited to bid by the end of June for the advanced steel works package. This will be followed in August by the invitation to bid for the main hangar construction contract. The UK's Halcrow is the consultant. The client is the Royal Court of Affairs.
