New Adco project takes shape

07 June 2002

Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco) released in late May preliminary information on the first phase of the proposed northeast Abu Dhabi project (MEED 24:5:02; 18:1:02).

Tender documents for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract are scheduled to be issued in July. Technical and commercial bids are due to be provisionally returned by September and November respectively. Adco plans a contract award in January 2003.

US-based VECO has the project management contract for the scheme. Paris-based Technip-Coflexip has carried out the front-end engineering and design (FEED).

The 40-42-month project involves increasing oil production from the onshore Rumaitha and Al-Dabbiyah fields to a sustainable capacity of 150,000 barrels a day (b/d) and a maximum level of 180,000 b/d. The two fields are producing small volumes at present (MEED 8:6:01).
