New chief for Samba

Saudi American Bank (Samba) managing director Robert Eichfield retires on 28 September after almost four years in the post and will be replaced by Arthur de Graffenried. Graffenried leaves the post of Citigroup country corporate officer and corporate head in Japan to join Samba.

Graffenried's professional background combines extensive experience in the region and in senior banking positions. He was regional head of Citigroup between 1985-87, with responsibility for operations in Bahrain, Dubai, Oman, Jordan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He went on to be chairman of Citigroup's debt restructuring committee, based in New York. In 1994-97, he worked for Citigroup in Argentina.
