New city for Fahaheel

Design work is under way on a new $5,500 million city development in the Fahaheel area of Kuwait City. Called Khabary City, the project is the most ambitious private sector real estate development in the state to date.
Design work is under way on a new $5,500 million city development in the Fahaheel area of Kuwait City. Called Khabary City, the project is the most ambitious private sector real estate development in the state to date.

With a built-up area of more than 770,000 square metres, the project is aimed at rejuvenating the Fahaheel district. It will be composed of several hundred residential and retail units, cinemas, restaurants, hotels, a health club, mosques, hospitals, private clinics and several car parks.

No date has yet been set for the release of tender documents for the main construction packages.

The project's masterplan has been completed by the UK's Make Places, while the local Najeeb al-Humaidhi Engineering Consultantis the main design consultant. The UK's Ove Arupis the engineering consultant, GhelArchitectsof Denmark is the urban planner and the UK's Lovejoyis the landscape architect. The local/UK Proman Maceis project manager.

The client is the local Al-Dar First Holding, a subsidiary of the local EFAD Holding, which together with another local subsidiary, Investment Dar, is developing the $3,500 million Australasia island on the World development in Dubai (MEED 15:4:05).
