Jeddah-based design and engineering consultant Zuhair Fayez & Partners (ZFP)have unveiled plans for a 40,000-square-metre development in the centre of the city. Preliminary designs for the high-tech facility are awaiting approval from Jeddah Municipality. A third of the building will house research and development facilities, and offices and conference rooms for the IT branch of ZFP. The remaining space will be leased as office space to local companies.
'This will be an extremely intelligent building', ZFP chairman Zuhair Fayez told MEED on 8 January. 'Our intention is that it will be a showcase for the IT work of our company.' ZFP will retain a management role during the construction period and transfer parts of its IT wing - ZFP-IT- into the office upon its completion in mid 2004. Since it was launched in 1999, ZFP-IT has designed websites and developed design and management software for a range of international firms including Microsoft Corporationof the US.
