New mixed-use development planned for Abu Dhabi

The local Baniyas Investment & Development Company (Bid) plans to build a $600m mixed-use development in the Baniyas City area of Abu Dhabi emirate.

The project will include villas, commercial and residential towers, a shopping mall, school, and sports facilities, and when completed in 2009 will house 3,000 people.

The sports club will have a main stadium capable of seating 20,000 spectators, in addition to seven training fields and a number of indoors multi-purpose courts. Bid was established in 2005 as a majority-owned subsidiary of Baniyas Sports Club.
