A tender has been issued by the Telecommunications & IT Ministry for the second mobile phone licence in the Occupied Territories. Requests for application from potential strategic partners are due to be submitted by 15 July. The successful bidder will take a 40 per cent stake in the new mobile operator. The licence will allow the new operator to establish a GSM network and a third-generation (3G) network in Gaza and the West Bank (MEED 17:3:06).
