The company is also working on a design and fabrication contract for Fujairah Refinery
The local Nico International has completed its phase five marine works contract on the extension to the Vopak Horizon Fujairah oil terminal.
The company won the sub-contract for the detailed engineering of piping and mechanical equipment, structural fabrication and installation of berths five and six at the oil terminal in November 2008.
The works were part of the phase five expansion which involves increasing the oil terminal’s capacity by 380,000 cubic metres with nine new tanks, and the construction of two new berths and two new loading arms.
The main contractor is the Netherlands’ Bam International, previously known as Interbeton.
Vopak Horizon Fujairah aims to expand the oil terminal’s capacity to 1.5 million cbm (cubic metres) with six new berths at a later date.
Nico also won a multi-billion dollar engineering-procurement-construction contract in December 2009 from Fujairah Refinery Company for work on oil terminal two at the Port of Fujairah.
The project involves the construction of pipelines that will interconnect the Port of Fujairah facilities for oil terminals one and two.
Nico’s work involves the design, supply, fabrication, installation of white oil and black oil piping works along with electrical and instrumentation works.
That project is scheduled for completion in September 2010.
Nico International is a subsidiary of the local Topaz Engineering.
