A total of nine companies have been prequalified for construction work at the Ras al-Hadd airport development project in Oman.

The companies are the local Desert Line Projects, India’s Nagarjuna Construction Company, Kuwait’s Combined Group Contracting Company, South Korea’s Samwhan Corporation, South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, India's Larsen & Toubro, Austria's Strabag, Germany's CZMT Invest, and the local Bahwan Contracting.

The town, on the eastern tip of the country, is a popular tourist destination and the new airport is intended to help visitors avoid a long road journey from the capital.

It is one of six airports being developed by the government. Others are planned at Sohar, Duqm, Adam, Haima and Shaleem (MEED 25:02:08).

The Ministry of Transport and Communication is the client.
