Juma Al Majid Est, the sole distributor of Hyundai in the UAE, has announced that the Middle East will not be affected by Hyundai Motor’s recall of 140,000 Sonata 2011 sedans in the US due to a steering problem, Khaleej Times has reported. “The reason for this voluntary recall is that North American dealers will need to inspect the steering column intermediate shaft universal joint connections to confirm proper assembly and torque and make corrections if needed,” the dealer said in a statement. “The manufacturing plant at which the Middle East’s 2011 MY YF Sonata supply is built is located in Korea and therefore the Middle East’s products do not have to undergo any testing,” the company said.
