US President Barack Obama is set to meet with leaders from Saudi Arabia and other members of the GCC in Washington, in two days of meetings due to start on 13 May.
Ahead of the talks Obama has called for increased political intervention by the Gulf states to try and help calm Libyas escalating conflict.
Were going to have to encourage some of the countries inside of the Gulf who have, I think, influence over the various factions inside of Libya to be more cooperative themselves, Obama said, speaking to reporters after a meeting with Italys Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in Washington.
The US and its allies must cooperate over counter-terrorism efforts and push for a political resolution, Obama added.
