Oman Air plans more flights to India

18 June 2008
Oman Air is planning to add up to four new destinations in India to its network over the coming months.

The national carrier is targeting routes to Mangalore, Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Goa as it expands its operations to the Indian subcontinent.

The airline has applied to the Indian government and the aviation regulator for permission to fly these routes.

Oman Air currently flies to 10 destinations in India and has expanded rapidly since the Omani government withdrew its stake in Gulf Air in 2007.

After it withdrew from Gulf Air, the government began promoting the short-haul carrier Oman Air as the country's new national carrier.

The airline is also looking to expand its long-haul capacity, and will launch flights to Kuala Lumpur and Amsterdam later this year.
