The Omani government has banned the use of disposable cups, plates and spoons made of polystyrene foam, at restaurants and cafes, Muscat Daily has reported. "The ban is particularly on serving hot food and drinks in polystyrene foam disposables, as toxic breakdown products like styrene are released when polystyrene foam is heated," said an official from the ministry of regional municipalities and water resources.
