Construction of 695km of pipeline has begun

Oman’s Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has begun implementing a RO33m ($85m) project to establish water networks in the Bahla area.

The work involves constructing 695km of pipeline between 18 villages, five water tanks with a total capacity of 15,000 cubic metres, and two filling stations for water tankers. It also includes increasing the capacity of two pumping stations and installing a control and monitoring system.

The project, tendered in 2010, is now 8 per cent complete, and is scheduled to finish in mid-2016.

Similar projects are at different stages in Bidbid, Sinaw, Bausher, and Al-Qabil and Ibra, as PAEW attempts to reach 98 per cent of the Omani population by 2040.
