State utility Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has invited consultants to submit proposals for the contract to deliver a resource options study for the electricity sector.
Consultants have been invited to submit proposals by 13 September for the contract.
The study will look at short-term resource options, 4-8 years, to enable long-term planning for a 9-25 year period.
The sultanate is currently pushing ahead with a programme to diversify fuel resources for power generation. Muscat is planning to integrate renewable energy and coal-fired power generation into its fuel mix in the next decade to meet the growing demand for power across the country.
