The tender is for infrastructure work on the air field at the new airport. The closing date for bids is 21 July.

To date, 11 companies have expressed an interest in the works. They include the local Strabag Oman, Larsen & Toubro (Oman), Bahwan Contracting and Oman Shapoorji Construction.

The client is the Ministry of Transport & Communications, with Egypt’s Hamza & Partners carrying out consultancy work on the project.

The contract comes as Oman continues to push ahead with its new airport projects.

New facilities are also planned for Haima, Adam, Ras al-Hadd and Shaleem. The government has set aside $44m for consultancy studies into the projects (MEED 25:2:08).
