Oman’s Sohar Port & Freezone is planning to develop 1GW of solar energy to provide power for its facilities and tenants.
According to senior figures at the Sohar Port development, land will be granted to private developers to deliver photovoltaic (PV) solar projects under the independent power producer (IPP) model.
Sohar Port & Freezone is a 50:50 joint venture between the Oman government and the Netherlands’ Port of Rotterdam, and is a key component of the sultanate’s economic diversification strategy.
