The two ports loaded and unloaded 6.4 million tonnes of cargo
Oman’s Sultan Qaboos and Salalah ports unloaded and loaded 6.4 million tonnes of cargo in the year leading up to the end of July. According to data by Oman’s national economy ministry, when compared to the previous year the two ports handled 30 per cent more cargo. The increase was attributed to the 1.9 per cent rise at Sultan Qaboos which handled 2.9 million tonnes, reports the Oman Daily Observer has reported. The number of vessels that anchored at Salalah Port rose by 4.8 per cent to 997 ships and vessels anchored at Sultan Qaboos Port fell by 0.8 per cent to 1,042 ships.
