Oman’s state owned gas producing and exporting company Oman LNG has signed a sales purchase agreement (SPA) with BP’s Singapore unit for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The SPA, a Free-on-Board (FOB) contract starting January 2018, will span over a period of 7 years, and will involve Oman LNG supplying 1.1 million tonnes per annum of LNG, equivalent to approximately 18 LNG cargoes annually to BP Singapore.
The agreement was signed by Harib al-Kitani, Oman LNG’s chief executive officer and Jonathan Shepard, chief operating officer of BP LNG, in Muscat on 20 January, according to the official Oman News Agency.
Oman LNG produces 34 million cubic metres a day of gas from its operating facility in Qalhat, 200 kilometres south east of Muscat, and has existing SPAs with three Asian customers to supply LNG, according to its website.
BP is also active in exploring gas in the sultanate, with BP's Oman unit the operator of the Khazzan tight gas project, phase one of which started producing gas from September last year.
