Contractors to submit offers to Sohar Industrial Port Company in first week of July
Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC) has tendered the main contract on the new liquid bulk jetty it is planning to construct at the northern Omani port, according to a source close to the bidding process.
Prequalified companies have been asked to submit engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bids for the estimated $100m project in the first week of July.
The jetty is planned to handle vessels with a capacity of up to 120,000 deadweight tonnes.
The scope covers the construction of mooring and breasting dolphins, a platform connected by a steel trestle, approximately 370-metres long to the existing terminal, abutment, and all necessary fixtures and fittings. It does not include the installation of pipelines.
The consultancy stage of the project was carried out by Dutch company Royal Haskoning and completed in the first quarter of 2013.
SIPC is a partnership between the Port of Rotterdam and the government of Oman.
