Contracts cover a headquarters building and employee housing project

Oman’s Transport & Communications Ministry has invited firms to bid by 14 December for two building construction contracts.

The first contract involves the construction of a housing development for employees of the ministry close to Muscat International Airport at Seeb.

The companies that have collected tender documents include Al-Khalili Construction, Al-Turky Enterprises, Galfar Engineering & Contracting Company, Hasan Bin Juma Bin Backer Trading & Contracting, National United Engineering Construction Company, Towell Construction & Maintenance Company, all local, and UAE-based Target Engineering Construction Company.

The second project involves the construction of a new headquarters building for the ministry in Muscat. The local Al-Dahleez International is the only company to have collected tender documents so far.

The contracts are the latest building construction projects to be tendered by the ministry. In mid-March it received bids from eight companies for a contract to build a headquarters building for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Muscat (MEED 19:10:09).

The low bidder on that project was Special Technical Services, an Omani contractor, with a price of RO21m ($54m). The other bidders are Al-Shanfri Trading Company, Al-Rawahi International Company, Galfar, National United Engineering, Toweel, all local, India’s Larsen & Toubro, and Target.
