Firms submitted technical offers for airport maintenance contract in October last year
Contractors in Oman are waiting for the Transport and Communications Ministry to invite selected bidders to submit commercial offers for the contract to build cargo and new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities at Muscat and Salalah airports.
Companies submitted technical offers for the contract in October 2012.
The consultant is US-based Parsons International.
The contract is part of ongoing projects to expand the capacity of both airports. The project to expand Muscat International airport is one of the largest construction projects in the sultanate. In October 2010, a consortium of US’ Bechtel, the local Bahwan Engineering and Turkey’s Enka, secured a RO706m ($1.8bn) contract to build the new passenger terminal.
