Sultan Qaboos issued a decree on 9 June creating a Tourism Ministry and appointed Rajiha bint Abdul Emir bin Ali as Minister of Tourism.
The establishment of a dedicated ministry reflects the centrality of tourism development to Muscat's diversification plans. Bin Ali is the second woman to join the Omani cabinet.
