The legal consultancy contract was awarded to the UK’s Berwin Leighton Paisner. Switzerland’s Electrowatt Engineering Services won the technical advisory contract.
The potential capacity of the plant is 700MW of power and 26 million gallons a day of desalinated water. The Oman Power & Water Procurement Company is the client.
The location of the plant has not been confirmed. One possible location is Barka, which is already the site of the Barka IWPP. A second plant, Barka 2, is under construction.
