Biography Omar al-Wahaibi joined state-owned Haya Water in 2003 as a general manager and was later appointed CEO.

Al-Wahaibi began his career in 1988 with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) as a design engineer. At PDO, Al-Wahaibi worked in various roles, including petroleum engineering, field engineering and operations. In 1998, he joined the new planning unit at UK/Dutch Shell Group’s office in the Hague as a senior facilities engineer and later became a senior portfolio analyst.

In 2001, Al-Wahaibi returned to PDO to lead the facilities engineering team for the Fahud area. He subsequently become head of the project management team for the entire northern Oman region. Haya Water was established in 2002 to build, own and operate a wastewater system for the Muscat governorate.

Al-Wahaibi has a mechanical engineering degree from the UK’s University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
