1.2 million passengers passed through Abu Dhabi International airport
Abu Dhabi International airport recorded more than 1 million passengers in July, a year-on-year increase of 13.3 per cent.
About 1.2 million passengers travelled through the airport in July. The growth was helped by new airlines flying into Abu Dhabi and many travellers in the region taking holidays before Ramadan. The double-digit growth was also aided by a strong flow of transit traffic in the airport.
“This growth is due to another strong summer season with new airlines and increased frequencies, combined with school holidays and the holy month of Ramadan,” says Ahmad al-Haddabi, chief operating officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac).
The top five routes from the airport in July were London, Doha, Bangkok, Jeddah and Manila. Together, these destinations accounted for 20 per cent of the total passenger traffic.
Aircraft movements in July grew 3.1 per cent, totalling 9,700 movements.
Dubai International airport recorded 4.7 million passengers in July (MEED 25:8:11).
