The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs & Fish Resources (PAAAFR) has invited interested companies to prequalify for a 20-year concession to build and operate a new national park and entertainment project at Jahra. The deadline for submission of applications is 14 March.

The build-operate-transfer (BOT) concession calls for the successful company to design, execute, operate and manage the scheme, which is located in the centre of Jahra old town. Returns on investment will be gained through entrance tickets and various retail outlets.

The site consists of two areas divided by Marzouq al-Mudeb street and bordered by the Jahra-Subiya expressway. Covering some 420,000 square metres, the area includes the Red Palace, a number of farms and several hundred palm trees.

The government is keen to develop the state as a tourist destination and increase the entertainment options for nationals. The local Kuwait Commercial Markets Complex Company (KCMCC) was recently awarded a 20-year PAAAFR BOT concession to develop Salmiya park in Kuwait City (MEED 18:11:05).
