Italy's FiatAvio has invited bids for the supply of generators for the 140-MW pcwer plant it is building at Quetta, in Baluchistan.
The plant is being developed by the Habibullah Coastal Power Company and FiatAvio is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
Bids have been invited for the supply of four high-voltage generators for the combined-cycle natural gas-fired plant. The closing date for bids is 10 September.
FiatAvio says that it expects to issue tenders for four further subcontracts transformers, switchgear, tanks and steel structures and erection works in the autumn. Completion of the plant is scheduled for the end of 1997.
The plant is being developed by a joint venture of Coastal Power Company of the US and the local Habibullah Group. The developers have applied for World Bank financing through the govemment's Long Term Credit Fund, administered by the National Development Finance Corporation (MEED 5:7:96).
