Italy's FiatAvio says it will issue a tender in late November for work on the 140-MW power station to be built at Quetta in Baluchistan. The tender will be for mechanical and electrical works for the plant which is being developed by the local Habibullah Coastal Power Company - a joint venture of Coastal Power Company of the US and the local Habibullah Group. FiatAvio is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Bids for the mechanical and electrical works are expected to be due in January 1997.

FiatAvio is currently evaluating bids for four other contracts for the plant. They are for the supply of high-voltage generators, the supply and delivery of four transformers, the supply, delivery, set-up and commissioning of a 132-kV switchyard, and the supply and delivery of five storage tanks. The company says that selected bidders for the four contracts may be announced in November (MEED 30:8:96).
