PAKISTAN: Hub power connection awarded

Saudi Cable Company has a SR 400 million ($106.7 million) contract to build a transmission line to link the new power station to be built at Hub river, Baluchistan, to the national grid.

According to the lump sum turnkey contract, Saudi Cables is to engineer, supply and construct two parallel 500 kilometre-long, 500-kV overhead transmission lines. Saudi Cables is to arrange the finance as part of the contract.

The transmission line is to feed the power produced at the 1,293-MW power station under construction at Hub river to the national grid at Jamshoro, Sind province. The line will be operated by the local Water & Power Development Authority, which has an agreement to buy the power produced by Hub Power Group at the station (MEED 24:12:93).
