Contractors have been prequalified to do civil works for the 1,450-MW Ghazi Barotha hydroelectric project on the Indus river. Tender documents are to be sent out in mid-August (MEED 29:7:94).
An estimated 10 bidders have been prequalified out of 47 applicants. They include:
a joint venture of Italy's Impregilo, Campenon Bernard of France, Germany's Ed Zueblin, and Nazir & Partners and Saadullah Khan & Brothers, both local
Turkey's Dogus in joint venture with Italy's Astaldi, and Spie Batignolles and Fougerolle, both of France
a joint venture of Hochtief and Strabag Bau, both of Germany, the Athens- based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC), and the Cyprus- based Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P)
