The UK's Babcock King-Wilkinson (BKW) has been awarded a contract for project management services by Pak-Arab Refinery (Parco). The contract is for work on the 100,000-barrel-a-day refinery at Mahmood Kot, near Multan. The company will provide management services from the initial stages of the project to commissioning, which is expected to take place in 2000. BKW will be responsible for awarding the main construction contract and other sub-contracts.
UOP of the US is the consultant and is providing the basic process design. The company will provide design services until the start-up stage. Williams Brothers (Willbros) of the US is to build a pipeline for the project.
Parco is a joint venture between the governments of Pakistan and Abu Dhabi, which is acting through the Abu Dhabibased International Petroleum Investment Company (MEED 22:9:95).
