Pentagon picks Raytheon for Kuwait missile deal

07 January 2008
The US Department of Defence has selected Raytheon to supply a $328m worth of missiles to the Kuwaiti government.

The Pentagon has notified the US Congress of its selection. If the decision is approved by the body, Raytheon will provide Kuwait with 3,510 TOW-2 missiles, 35 missile launchers, as well as spare parts and maintenance equipment.

The US defence giant was selected by the Defence Security Cooperation Agency, which deals with arms sales to foreign governments.

Congress will now review the deal, and has the power to block it if US lawmakers oppose the arrangement.
