The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) issued the inquiry on behalf of Perini for M&E contractors to design and construct new B and C power stations at Nasiriyah power plant and install two 125-MW Frame 9E gas turbines at the C plant and one 40-MW Frame 6 gas turbine at the B plant.
The two Frame 9 turbines were originally purchased from India's Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for use at Rumailah but have been diverted for use at Nasiriyah power station. The Frame 6 unit is being supplied by the US' BTEC. Perini is working for USACE on a $500 million, one-year contract awarded on 1 April.
