Wastewater rising in importance for Middle East petrochemicals sector
Dealing with the environmental and commercial implications of water use and treatment in petrochemical plants will become an increasingly important issue for the GCC, the MEED Middle East Petrochemicals 2012 Conference was told on 21 March.
“There is growing interest in the safety and economic potential of industrial wastewater,” CH2M Hill’s international water group business development manager Jamal Shamas said.
Shamas said that refineries use 1 gallon of water for every two gallons of processed oil. Similar amounts of water are used in petrochemicals.
