British group will handle engineering and procurement at Oman field development
The UKs Petrofac has been awarded a $900m engineering and procurement contract on facilities at the onshore Yibal Khuff oil and sour gas field in Oman.
The contract was awarded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) as is set to be carried out over the projects four-and-a-half-year timeline.
Yibal Khuff is located onshore 350 kilometres southwest of Muscat on PDOs main Block 6 oil and gas field concession.
Petrofacs contract also covers the provision reimbursable detailed engineering, and construction and commissioning management support services and procurement on an incentivised pass-through basis.
This extends throughout the construction and start-up of the integrated oil and sour gas facility.
PDO will award separate construction contracts for the on-plot and off-plot scopes of the project.
Last year, Petrofac won a $1bn engineering and procurement contract from PDO to provide services on its Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) in the south of the sultanate.
