Contractor to manage commission of two new production assets for Oman Oil Company

UK-based Petrofac has been awarded a $50m contract with Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production (OOCEP) to carry out operations and maintenance services on two new production facilities.

Under the three-year contract, Petrofac will design and implement an operations management system and manage the transition from commissioning to full operating phase, deploying a team from its regional headquarters in Sharjah, UAE.

The contract covers OOCEP’s new gas plant in Bukha on Oman’s northern Musandam peninsula, which comprises an onshore plant and facilities for receiving well fluids from offshore platforms in the West Bukha field.

The second asset is the Abu Tubul onshore development in central Oman, made up of several production wells, connected by a gathering and trunk line system to a gas processing plant.

Both facilities are currently under construction. OOCEP is the upstream arm of the state-owned Oman Oil Company.
