Al-Fada is expected to formally set up a new project company in partnership with two US firms and a similar number of GCC investors. The new firm will be called Gulf Carbon Industries Company (GCIC).
The local Kuwait Consulting & Investment Company has carried out a feasibility study for the proposed project. A team of the Canada's Alcoa with Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) is the technology provider.
The next stage in the project implementation will be a formal contract award by January to K Home of the UK to carry out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) package. The plant is due to be commissioned by mid-2006 with nameplate capacity of 600,000 tonnes a year.
