Plantation sows Dubailand seeds

The UK's Plantation Holdingshas released the first construction tender on its estimated $200 million Plantation Equestrian & Polo Club project within the Dubailand development. Five local contractors have been invited to bid by early September to build the stable blocks.

The client is looking to break up the project into several packages. The next tenders, due out in September and October, include construction of the riding clubhouse, the international indoor arena, two polo clubhouses, first-phase infrastructure works and four private residences. Tenders for larger contracts, including the construction of 110 luxury boutique villas and a five-star boutique hotel, are expected by the end of the year.

Covering an area of about 1.8 million square metres, the project is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2007. Several consultants are advising on the project including Architectural Design Unit (ADU), Canada's Cansultand the local Al-Manhal Engineering Consulting(MEED 28:1:05).
