Prequal invited for Seef flyover work

The Works Ministry has invited companies to prequalify by 23 March for the contract to expand the main arterial road and flyover north of Manama. The $30 million-40 million project is intended to relieve the flow of traffic along the main highway that serves a number of malls and shopping developments in the area. The US' Parsons GlobalServicesis the consultant.

The scope of works covers the reconstruction of a 4.7-kilometre section of highway between the Seef and Pearl roundabouts and the building of six multi-span, post-tensioned concrete bridges. The contract also calls for the construction of reinforced soil walls, road embankments, drainage, paving, land reclamation, landscaping, and the redirection and diversion of traffic using the existing highway.

The client expects to prequalify about seven contractors for the project and plans to issue tender documents in mid April. Work is scheduled to begin by early August.
