The scope of works covers the reconstruction of a 4.7-kilometre section of highway between the Seef and Pearl roundabouts and the building of six multi-span, post-tensioned concrete bridges. The contract also calls for the construction of reinforced soil walls, road embankments, drainage, paving, land reclamation, landscaping, and the redirection and diversion of traffic using the existing highway.

The client expects to prequalify about seven contractors for the project and plans to issue tender documents in mid April. Work is scheduled to begin by early August.
