Applications for prequalification have been submitted for the position of project manager on the $1,000 million Muscat wastewater project. Awards are also approaching of several other contracts on the scheme.
Applications for prequalification have been submitted for the position of project manager on the $1,000 million Muscat wastewater project. Awards are also approaching of several other contracts on the scheme.

Eleven companies applied to be shortlisted. They are: Germany's Fichtner; Black & Veatch Internationaland Montgomery Watson Harza, both of the US; US-based Parsons International; the Dubai office of KEO International Consultants; Dawood Engineering Consultancy, Mott MacDonaldand WS Atkins, all of the UK; Norway's Norconsult; Japan's NJS Consultants; and Canada's Hanscomb.

An award is expected imminently on the contract to provide financial advisory services on the establishment of an operation and maintenance joint venture with the client on the wastewater project, Oman Wastewater Services Company. Two teams - Societe Generalewith Bank Muscatand BNP Paribaswith Oman Arab Bank- are in the running.

An award is also due for construction of the Al-Ansab sewage treatment plant, for which the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting emerged as low bidder at RO 31.5 million ($80.8 million) in early November (MEED 12:11:04).
