Companies that have carried out EPC contracts for the past 10 years are eligible to prequalify. The prequalifications are for:
Mechanical and civil, including the construction of administration buildings, storage tanks with associated works, piping and the supply and installation of rotating equipment, pressure vessels and heat exchangers and handling units for refineries;
Electrical works, covering the supply and installation of substations and accessories of up to 11 kV, cabling, distribution boards, circuit-breakers and generators, transformers and equipment;
Instrumentation works, including the supply and installation of gas detection systems, emergency shutdown systems and distributed control systems;
Marine works, covering oil piers, submarine structural and piping infrastructure and single point mooring (SPM); and
Specialised field works, including heavy lifts, cathodic protection and insulation and fire-proofing.
KNPC plans to invest over $1,500 million over the next three years in five major projects (see Special Report, page 30). The proposed schemes range from the construction of a new grassroots refinery to instrumentation and control systems and upgrades of existing facilities.
