Prequals out for Project X

Prequalification has started for a three-tower mixed-use cluster in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). There has been a steady flow of contract awards at JLT in recent months, the last going to Lebanon's Arabian Construction Company (ACC) for the construction of the 39-storey Gate 1 Tower.

Contractors have been invited to prequalify ahead of tenders being issued in November for the main construction package on the unnamed three-tower project on cluster X. The project involves the construction of two 39-storey residential towers and one 45-storey office tower.

Negotiations are also under way for the piling contract, which is set to start in November. The consultant is the local National Engineering Bureau (NEB)and the project manager is the US' Morganti. First Gulf Bankis the client.

ACC signed in mid-October the AED 175 million ($47.6 million) construction and maintenance contract with Bonyan International Investment Groupfor the Dubai Gate 1 project. The contract duration for the 55,000-square-metre tower is 22 months. Bonyan, formerly known as Dar International for Development, also plans to build an estimated $1,200 million hotel located near the Dubai Trade Centre roundabout.

The project, named Dubai Park Square tower, will have more than 150 storeys and will be located within a new residential, commercial and retail district named Park Square (MEED 19:8:05).
