Five international companies submitted commercial bids by the end May deadline. Snamprogetti's offer is followed by Saipem, also of Italy, which submitted a price of $340 million.
The scope of works on the 32-month contract includes the construction of a new degassification plant with nameplate capacity of 730,000 barrels a day (b/d) and the replacement of the existing two-phase gas separators, each of 50,000 b/d, with four new three-phase separators, each of 120,000 b/d. The project will also entail the installation of facilities for the reinjection of 95 million cubic feet a day of gas and 120,000 b/d of water into the G, F and D reservoirs. It will tackle a rising water cut and falling reservoir pressure.
The project is effectively an expanded version of the surface upgrade and gas reinjection schemes, which was tendered previously by the client - Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco -MEED 25:10:02).
A re-engineering study for the project has been carried out by Snamprogetti. The US' Parsons Internationalis acting as project management consultant for the scheme.
