Three CCC prices were opened by the Tender Board, ranging from RO 52.4 million-RO 56.7 million ($134.3 million-145.4 million). The highest announced quote was 20 per cent lower than CCC's nearest rival, Galfar Engineering & Contracting. Bids were also opened from STFAand Tekfen, both of Turkey, while the local Hassan bin Juma bin Baker Trading & Contractingand China State Construction Engineering Companywere eliminated during technical evaluation.
The contract covers all infrastructure work at the port, including roads, buildings, bulk excavation, drainage, telecommunications networks and pipelines. The US' Parsons Internationalis the consultant; the client is the Transport & Communications Ministry. The infrastructure contract will be the latest in a series of major awards at Sohar (MEED 4:6:04).
